"Honoring Our Journeys"
This year the conference will be held in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in conjunction with the start of our sister program, Girls on the Move. After the courageous women riders of Girls on the Move take off on September 9th for their ride across the country to educate people about girls issues, we at the conference will gather to examine our own lessons of courage and challenge. The conference will be September 15th - 17th at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island.

Preliminary Conference Highlights:

  • A keynote speaker who shares her experiences and lessons from difficult challenges in Outdoor Leadership.
  • A broad array of workshops covering topics on women and girls in the outdoors.
  • Formal and informal space for networking around specific topics such as programming for girls, diversity, violence against girls and women, women's expeditions, etc.
  • A celebration of our individual talents through a community evening festival. Perhaps some live music and dancing.
  • Resource tables for your information on girls' and women's projects, job opportunities, and events.
  • Outdoor activities available for women to practice skills and have fun!

    Location: Camp Sealth, Vashon Island, Washington. Just a 15-30 minute boat ride from Seattle and Tacoma. Vashon Island is the heart of the Puget Sound, surrounded by the Cascade Mountains to the East, the Olympic Mountains to the West and Mount Rainier to the South.

    Transportation: Our transportation page will be up in a few days. Please be patient!

    Housing: There will be Heated Cabins as well as tenting options while you are participating in the conference.

    Meals: A full meal plan can be provided. Please let us know if you have any special allergies.

    Other Services: Child care can be provided.
