The feature articles page will change every couple weeks, so check back or sign up for the email update. The articles will range from specific topics such as this week's women climbing with women, to tips and techniques, to being a female guide. Basically, the articles will answer the many questions you've asked as well as focus on the trials and tribuations that occur to women who get out on the rock.

Annie Smith climbing at Jackson FallsWomen climbing with women. One might think that it's really no big deal, climbing with other women. But to some it makes a world of difference. One of my first outdoor climbing experiences was through a two weekend women's only climbing class. The class included 16 women and was taught by a guide (which happened to be a man). We had an intro night to meet each other, find out each other's previous climbing experience, and see what we were getting into. Many of the women at the meeting had never climbed before. Some were there for a thrill. Others wanted to get over a fear of heights or falling. A few others like myself had been climbing indoors and wanted to take a step outside to get the real rock experience. No matter the background of each woman, the atmosphere still seemed the same: a learning experience with others who wanted to do the same. We all realized once we arrived at Eldo that it wasn't about all of us making it to the top of each climb, it was about giving it all you had and getting past those fears that some of us held. The first day included a few easier climbs as the perfect introduction for the newcomers. For some that was all they needed and didn't show up for the next weekend.
