Mountaineering boots for women are pretty hard to find in general stores. I've had some luck finding the La Sportiva Lady Makalus and I think I've also seen the Salomon Super 8's, but when you're looking to spend a couple hundred dollars on mountaineering boots, wouldn't you rather have a few in front of you to pick from and try on? The fit does count, and make a difference. I know I prefer warm, comfy toes as well as achilles tendons that say thank you for not rubbing them raw. Granted I alone can't do much to help the stores broaden their selection, but i can give you the low-down on what's really available. This page contains a quick summary of each boot. Note the brand and you might be able to find a dealer near you to get the pefect fit.
